OSOGBO — The NYSC Osun State coordinator, Ekong Kubiangha, announced that the service year for 12 corps members has been extended due to various infractions, including indiscipline and violations of scheme regulations. Additionally, 27 corps members have been officially declared absconders for abandoning their primary assignments without authorization.

The announcement was made during the passing-out ceremony held this week, where 2,132 corps members who successfully completed their mandatory one-year service were presented with their Certificates of National Service.

Maintaining Scheme Integrity

Kubiangha stated that the sanctions are in strict accordance with the provisions of the NYSC bye-laws. These measures are designed to uphold the discipline and integrity of the national service program. He commended the vast majority of the outgoing corps members for their dedication and positive contributions to the development of their respective host communities throughout the state.

Addressing the graduates, the coordinator highlighted the significance of the service year as a foundation for personal growth. He urged them to protect their certificates and remain committed to the values of patriotism, integrity, and diligence as they transition into their careers.

Caution Against Partisan Politics

With elections upcoming in the state, Kubiangha issued a strong warning to the former corps members regarding their conduct in the public sphere:

“I want to caution corps members against partisan political activities and statements capable of exposing them to danger ahead of the forthcoming elections in the state. I urge you to remain security conscious, law-abiding, and focused on self-development and economic independence.”

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to eligible participants, alongside commendation awards for corps liaison officers who demonstrated exemplary service during the year.
