ABEOKUTA — The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) has announced the expulsion of 365 students from various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, following the discovery that they gained admission using fraudulent academic credentials.
Rigorous Verification Exercise
The expulsion follows a comprehensive, institution-wide verification exercise of credentials submitted during the admission and registration processes. Investigations confirmed that the affected students had presented falsified National Diploma (ND) results and forged academic transcripts from various institutions to facilitate their entry into the polytechnic.
In an official statement released on Monday, June 1, 2026, the Polytechnic’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, stated that this decisive action is part of the institution’s ongoing commitment to sanitizing its academic system and maintaining the integrity of its degrees.
Breakdown of Expulsions
The affected students were spread across several schools within the polytechnic:
• School of Communication and Information Technology: 156 students
• School of Business and Management Studies: 117 students
• School of Science and Technology: 54 students
• School of Engineering: 36 students
• School of Environmental Studies: 2 students
A Zero-Tolerance Policy
The Rector of MAPOLY, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, has issued a stern warning to prospective applicants, emphasizing that the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding fraud, forgery, and academic misconduct.
