Nigerian beauty queen Oma Iruomachukwu Osele has emerged winner of Miss Continental World 2026, securing the crown at the international pageant’s grand finale in Ayutthaya, Thailand.
Osele defeated contestants from more than 20 countries to win the title at the October 9 final. India’s Shreeya Panda finished as first runner-up, while Thailand’s Pornpaya Rianju was named second runner-up.
The Nigerian representative also secured major honours during the competition, winning the Queen of Africa title and Best National Costume award.
Osele Makes History for Nigeria
The 28-year-old Osele is a medical laboratory scientist, entrepreneur and model from Lagos. She represented Nigeria after winning EliteGlam Pageant Nigeria 2025, which earned her a place at the international competition.
Her victory is particularly notable because the 2026 competition was the inaugural edition of Miss Continental World. Osele therefore became the first woman to win the international title.
Her success was not limited to the main crown. She was named Queen of Africa, an honour given to the highest-placed African contestant, while her cultural presentation also earned her the Best National Costume prize.
Reports from Anambra-based media also identified Osele as being from Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. The Anambra First Lady, Nonye Soludo, subsequently congratulated her on the achievement.
Strong Performance Before the Final
Osele had already established herself as one of the notable contestants before the final.
In September, she won the World Premiere Award after topping a global fan vote conducted through Eventista’s 1Vote platform.
She finished ahead of India’s Monica Konjengbam and Thailand’s Pornpaya Rianju in the fan vote. The award came with a media package that included official social media promotion and an Associated Press News press release.
That early recognition added momentum to her campaign as she progressed toward the final in Thailand.
Nigeria Records Another Strong Result
Nigeria also recorded a notable result in the male category of the Continental World competition.
Nigerian representative Unwana Sambo Essien finished third runner-up at the Mister Continental World 2026 final, which was held on the same night as the women's competition.
Essien also won the King of Kings title and the Best National Attire award in the male category.
The double achievement gave Nigeria a strong showing across both the male and female competitions.
A New International Milestone
Osele's victory adds another achievement to Nigeria's recent record in international beauty pageants.
Her win comes two years after Chidimma Adetshina finished as first runner-up at Miss Universe 2024, another major international result for a Nigerian representative.
For Osele, the Miss Continental World crown caps a campaign that included recognition from international voters, continental honours and the national costume award before she ultimately secured the main title.
The Nigerian beauty queen is expected to return to the country following her victory in Thailand.
