British singer, songwriter and producer MNEK has cancelled his upcoming THE!! BULLDOZER!! TOUR!!, citing disappointing ticket sales, rising production costs and concerns that the concert production was not ready to the standard he wanted.
The 31-year-old musician, whose real name is Uzoechi Osisioma Emenike, announced the cancellation less than three weeks before the tour was scheduled to begin. The 15-date UK and European tour was due to support his second studio album, BULLDOZER!!, released in September.
MNEK broke the news to fans in a statement shared on social media, acknowledging that the decision was difficult but saying he did not want to proceed with a tour that could leave him operating at a loss or fail to deliver the show he had envisioned.
“The budget has been fudgey.. the tickets aren’t selling enough ... and the show just isn’t ready to the standard I want it to be.”
He added that he was joining a growing number of artists dealing with high production costs and overly ambitious touring plans, particularly when the financial numbers no longer made sense.
The singer said he had been looking forward to performing BULLDOZER!! for fans and was proud of the album, but he had “no interest” in going ahead with the tour if he could not do it properly.
MNEK’s 15-date tour has been cancelled
The cancelled tour was scheduled to begin on November 7 at Thekla in Bristol before travelling through several UK and European cities.
The original itinerary included performances in Birmingham, Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester, London, Brighton, Barcelona, Zurich, Paris, Cologne, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen and Oslo. His London show at KOKO had been scheduled for November 13.
The tour would have represented an important moment in MNEK's solo career because it was his first full headline tour in several years and came after the release of his long-awaited second studio album.
The cancellation means fans who had already purchased tickets will not be able to see the planned live shows.
MNEK thanked those who had bought tickets and said refunds would be processed as soon as possible. A German promoter handling the cancelled Cologne date also confirmed that tickets would be automatically refunded to the original payment method, with no action required from ticket holders.
No replacement tour dates have been announced.
A difficult moment for live music
MNEK's cancellation comes amid wider concerns about the economics of touring.
While major artists can generate enormous revenues from stadium and arena performances, touring also carries substantial expenses. Production crews, musicians, dancers, transportation, accommodation, venues, equipment, insurance, promotion and technical requirements can quickly turn a tour into a major financial commitment.
MNEK specifically pointed to high production costs and over-ambitious planning as part of the problem.
BBC Newsbeat reported that MNEK's tickets were available from approximately £30, meaning the cancellation was not simply a case of extremely high ticket prices. The precise number of tickets sold and the size of the production budget were not disclosed.
That distinction is important. MNEK said tickets were not selling enough, but he did not provide a specific sales figure or say that poor demand was the only reason for the cancellation. His statement also highlighted the cost of mounting the production and the fact that the show was not yet at the standard he wanted.
The decision reflects a broader challenge facing performers: a tour can sell a significant number of tickets and still become financially difficult if production and operating expenses rise faster than expected.
BBC Newsbeat reported that artists and industry figures have increasingly described a “cost of touring crisis”. David Rowntree, drummer of Blur and chair of the Featured Artists Coalition, has previously said that it has become extremely difficult for musicians to make touring financially viable. Booking agent and promoter Joe Booley also told BBC Newsbeat that changes in consumer spending since the COVID-19 pandemic have affected ticket purchases and contributed to tour cancellations.
MNEK wanted to protect the quality of the show
Rather than continuing with a reduced production or attempting to make the tour work at any cost, MNEK indicated that he preferred to wait until he could deliver the performance he had originally intended.
That decision is particularly significant because BULLDOZER!! represents a major return to solo music for the artist.
The album arrived on September 18, 2026, eight years after MNEK's debut studio album, Language. The 11-track project followed singles including “REVERSE!!”, “OH NO!! ALL THE BOYS!!” and “MUSCLE MARYS..”.
The album explores themes connected to identity, body image, desire, healing and personal freedom, reflecting a more personal side of MNEK's artistic work.
In promotional material for the album, MNEK described BULLDOZER!! as a project about breaking through barriers created by other people and by oneself. The record therefore represented more than simply another commercial release, making the planned tour an important opportunity for him to translate the album's ideas into a live setting.
From teenage songwriter to global hitmaker
MNEK has built a substantial career behind the scenes as a songwriter and producer.
He entered the music industry professionally as a teenager after signing his first publishing deal at the age of 14. Over the years, he has written and produced music for major international artists including Beyoncé, Zara Larsson, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Little Mix, Christina Aguilera and others.
One of his major breakthroughs came through his work on Duke Dumont and AME's “Need U (100%),” which earned him his first Grammy nomination in 2014.
He later became widely recognised as a performer in his own right through collaborations and solo releases. His work with Zara Larsson on “Never Forget You” became an international hit, while his collaborations with artists such as Joel Corry and Stormzy further expanded his profile.
His debut album, Language, was released in 2018. However, it took another eight years before he released its follow-up.
That long gap makes the cancellation of the BULLDOZER!! tour particularly disappointing for fans who had been waiting to see the new material performed live.
Other artists are facing similar pressures
MNEK's decision is not an isolated example.
The live music industry has seen other artists cancel or scale back tours when ticket sales failed to justify the cost of staging the planned productions.
BBC Newsbeat pointed to the Pussycat Dolls, who cancelled almost their entire US reunion tour earlier in 2026 following poor ticket sales. Other artists have also responded to challenging economics by reducing the size of venues, shortening tours or postponing dates rather than proceeding with financially unsustainable plans.
The problem is particularly complicated because musicians must make decisions about touring months before shows take place. Venues, crews, transportation and other production arrangements often need to be booked well in advance.
If ticket sales are slower than expected, an artist can face a difficult choice: continue with the original plan and potentially absorb significant losses, reduce the production, move to smaller venues or cancel.
For MNEK, the decision came with another consideration — the quality of the performance.
His statement suggests that he did not want fans to receive a show that fell below the standard he had set for himself, particularly after spending years developing the album.
Fans will have to wait for another tour
Despite cancelling the upcoming dates, MNEK made it clear that he has not abandoned the idea of touring BULLDOZER!!.
He said he looked forward to trying again when he could give the album and his audience the show they deserve.
The cancellation therefore appears to be a postponement of his touring ambitions rather than an announcement that he will never perform the album live.
For fans who purchased tickets, the immediate issue is the refund process. MNEK said refunds would be issued, while venue and promoter notices have also confirmed refund arrangements for individual dates.
The wider significance of the cancellation, however, goes beyond one artist.
MNEK's experience highlights the increasingly complicated economics of live music. Even established musicians with major songwriting credits and a new album can find themselves forced to reconsider a tour when ticket demand, production costs and artistic ambitions do not align.
For MNEK, the priority appears to be returning to the stage under conditions that allow him to present BULLDOZER!! as he intended — rather than simply completing a tour for the sake of completing it.
With no new dates announced yet, fans will have to wait for the next opportunity to see the singer take the album on the road.
