IBADAN — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a strong commitment to the safe rescue of teachers and pupils recently abducted in the Oriire Local Council of Oyo State. Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, the President assured the South-West region that the Federal Government is mobilizing all necessary assets including international collaboration to combat the rise in kidnapping and banditry.

Intensifying National Security

During the commissioning of the newly remodelled and expanded Premier Hotel in Ibadan, President Tinubu emphasized that national security remains the bedrock of economic prosperity. To address current threats, the administration is:

  • Enhancing Intelligence: Leveraging improved inter-agency collaboration and advanced technological surveillance.

  • Strengthening Policing: Undertaking comprehensive reforms to bolster local policing structures across the federation.

  • Community Engagement: Calling on traditional and religious institutions to partner with security agencies through intelligence sharing and community vigilance.

"The ongoing reforms in the security sector are yielding positive results," the President noted, adding that the government will remain relentless until Nigerians can live and conduct business without fear of violence.

A Vote of Confidence in the Economy

The President framed the redevelopment of the iconic Premier Hotel as a clear indicator of growing investor confidence in Nigeria’s future. He lauded the Odu’a Investment Company Limited owned by the six South-West states for preserving a historic asset while modernizing it for today’s competitive hospitality market.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, both represented by their respective Secretaries to the State Government, praised the project as a model for blending cultural heritage with economic development.

Call to Investors

The Federal Government used the occasion to reiterate its commitment to creating a business-friendly environment. President Tinubu urged local and international investors to leverage the ongoing momentum in key sectors, noting that as peace is restored to restive communities, the conditions for sustainable economic growth will only continue to improve.
