Reality TV star Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, and Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday are set to face each other in a celebrity boxing bout in Lagos on October 1, 2026.
The contest, tagged “Phyna vs Nkechi,” is part of Balmoral Group Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series and will take place at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. The organisers have announced that the event will be broadcast live on DAZN and SuperSport.
The matchup comes after a recent public disagreement between the two entertainers on social media, turning an online dispute into a scheduled boxing contest.
From social media dispute to boxing ring
The announcement of the fight followed a heated exchange between Phyna and Nkechi Blessing.
According to reports, Nkechi Blessing had criticised Phyna over her frequent involvement in online disagreements and urged the reality star to be more measured in her interactions.
Phyna subsequently responded to the actress, questioning why she had publicly addressed her. She also referred to previous communication between them concerning a possible movie project.
The disagreement attracted attention from fans of both entertainers before Balmoral Promotions announced that the two would meet inside the boxing ring.
The promoter shared a promotional poster featuring the pair in boxing attire and described the matchup as a rivalry.
“Plot twist? Let’s see what the women can do. Phyna VS Nkechi,” the promotional announcement said, adding that “the rivalry is real” and challenging the two entertainers to back up the rivalry when the bell rings.
October 1 showdown in Lagos
The celebrity bout is scheduled for October 1 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
The date places the contest among the entertainment events planned around Nigeria's Independence Day celebrations.

Other professional bouts announced for the card include Eworitse Ezra Arenyeka against Lekan Muibi, Basit “Joker Boy” Adebayo against Fatiu Ijomoni, and Yusuf Adeniji against David Tagoe.
