Big Brother Naija winner Phyna stopped Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in the fourth round at Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” event in Lagos.
Reality television star Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has defeated Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing by knockout in their celebrity boxing contest at the “Chaos in the Ring” event in Lagos.
The bout took place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, as part of an Independence Day boxing card organised by Balmoral Group Promotions. Multiple Nigerian outlets reported that Phyna stopped Nkechi Blessing in the fourth round of the scheduled four-round contest.
The victory gives Phyna bragging rights in one of the most closely watched celebrity matchups on the card, following weeks of public exchanges between the two entertainers.
Phyna Seals Victory in Fourth Round
Phyna and Nkechi Blessing had been scheduled to compete over four rounds, with the fight forming part of Balmoral Promotions’ latest celebrity boxing series.
According to reports from the event, the contest went into the fourth round before Phyna secured the knockout and ended the fight. Punch reported that the reality star's victory made her the winner of what it described as Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout. Other reports described it as the first female celebrity contest in Balmoral’s “Chaos in the Ring” series.
The result brought an end to a rivalry that had developed publicly before the two women agreed to settle the dispute inside the boxing ring.
Phyna, a former Big Brother Naija winner, and Nkechi Blessing, a prominent Nollywood actress, had traded words in the run-up to the contest, generating considerable attention around the matchup.
The tension also spilled into promotional activities ahead of fight night, with reports of heated exchanges between the two during the build-up.
From Online Dispute to Boxing Ring
The fight did not emerge from a conventional sporting rivalry.
The matchup followed public exchanges between Phyna and Nkechi Blessing, with the actress previously commenting on Phyna's frequent involvement in online confrontations. Phyna responded to the comments, and the disagreement eventually became the basis for a celebrity boxing matchup.
Balmoral Promotions subsequently announced the contest as part of its “Chaos in the Ring” series.
The promotional campaign helped turn the fight into one of the event's major attractions, alongside the men's celebrity bout between Carter Efe and Speed Darlington and the professional main event featuring Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah against Nigeria's Godday “Zodsolo” Appah.
The event was held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos and formed part of Nigeria's October 1 Independence Day celebrations. The card also featured professional championship boxing alongside the celebrity contests.
Phyna Says She Wants More Boxing
Following her victory, Phyna indicated that the fight could be more than a one-off appearance in celebrity boxing.
Punch reported that the reality star expressed an interest in pursuing professional boxing, suggesting that she sees a potential future in the sport beyond the celebrity contest.
She also immediately identified another possible opponent.
After beating Nkechi Blessing, Phyna called out actress Etinosa Idemudia, who was reportedly watching the fight from ringside. Etinosa accepted the challenge, adding another possible female celebrity matchup to the growing boxing series.
The exchange means Phyna's victory may not be the end of her involvement in Balmoral's celebrity boxing programme.
A Major Night for Celebrity Boxing
Phyna's victory was one of several notable results from the Lagos card.
In the other celebrity contest, Carter Efe defeated Speed Darlington after their scheduled four-round fight. Guardian reported that the result came after the two entertainers had spent much of the build-up exchanging insults and threats. Carter Efe entered the bout after defeating singer Portable earlier in the year.
Carter Efe's previous victory came at “Chaos in the Ring 4” in May, when he defeated Portable by unanimous decision. That victory had placed him among the better-known names in Nigeria's emerging celebrity boxing scene before his contest with Speed Darlington.
The professional main event also produced a significant result, with Ghana's Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeating Godday “Zodsolo” Appah to take the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship, according to Punch.
The combination of professional boxing and celebrity matchups has increasingly become a feature of Balmoral's events, drawing attention from Nigeria's entertainment and sports audiences.
A New Chapter for Phyna
For Phyna, the win adds another high-profile achievement to her public career.
She became widely known after winning Big Brother Naija Season 7 in 2022, and has remained active in entertainment and social media since then. Her entry into boxing represents another area in which she has attracted public attention.
The victory over Nkechi Blessing could now open the door to further celebrity bouts, particularly after her callout of Etinosa Idemudia.
However, celebrity boxing and professional boxing are different levels of competition. Although Phyna has said she is interested in taking boxing further, her latest contest was a celebrity bout rather than a professional boxing match.
For now, her record from the “Chaos in the Ring” contest is clear: she entered the ring against Nkechi Blessing, survived the four-round format and secured a knockout victory in the fourth round.
The Rivalry Ends With a Winner
The result also closes the competitive chapter of a dispute that began outside the ring.
What started with disagreements and public exchanges eventually developed into a formal fight promoted to a large audience in Lagos.
Nkechi Blessing had accepted the challenge and entered the contest as the actress looking to settle the dispute inside the ring. Phyna, meanwhile, emerged with the victory and has already turned her attention toward a possible next opponent.
The event demonstrated the growing popularity of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, where entertainers and public figures are increasingly using boxing contests as a form of competitive entertainment.
For Phyna, however, the result is more than another viral moment.
She now has a knockout victory over Nkechi Blessing and has publicly expressed an interest in continuing with boxing.
Whether that leads to another celebrity contest or eventually to a professional career remains to be seen. For the moment, the first chapter of Phyna's boxing story ended with her hand raised after a fourth-round stoppage in Lagos.
