ABAKALIKI — Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has made a public appeal to residents of the state, asking for forgiveness regarding any shortcomings of his administration and those of elected lawmakers. The governor's remarks came during a Democracy Thanksgiving Service held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki on Sunday, May 31, 2026, to commemorate his third year in office.
A Call for Reconciliation and Renewal
Addressing a gathering of government officials, religious leaders, and political stakeholders, Governor Nwifuru acknowledged the complexities of governance. He emphasized that the process of serving the people is one of continuous learning, which requires humility and dedication.
“Please forgive us; forgive me, the National Assembly members and the House of Assembly members. Forgive our shortcomings and vote for us again,” Governor Nwifuru stated during his address.
The governor noted that while no administration can claim to be entirely flawless, his government remains deeply committed to improving service delivery. He pledged to continue expanding infrastructure and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach communities across Ebonyi State.
Three Years of the "People’s Charter of Needs"
Governor Nwifuru’s appeal follows the recent marking of his administration’s third anniversary on May 29, 2026. The administration, which operates under the "People’s Charter of Needs" policy framework, has focused heavily on human capital development, infrastructure, and community reconciliation.
As the governor looks toward the final lap of his current tenure, he emphasized that the request for renewed support in the 2027 general elections is rooted in his administration's desire to consolidate ongoing development projects and policies aimed at enhancing the overall welfare of Ebonyi citizens.
