ABUJA — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially launched a massive grassroots mobilization strategy aimed at securing a second term for President Bola Tinubu in the 2026/2027 electoral cycle. Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, serving as the Director-General of the "Renewed Hope Ambassadors" (RHA), announced that the party has recruited over 4.4 million agents to oversee mobilization efforts across the country.

The "Mathematics of Mobilization"

During the RHA National Retreat held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, Governor Uzodimma detailed the scale of the operation:

  • Agent Count: The party has recruited exactly 4,421,150 canvassers.

  • Deployment: These agents are deployed across Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units, averaging 25 agents per unit.

  • Command Structure: The machinery is organized through a tiered system spanning the national level, six geopolitical zones, 36 states plus the FCT, 774 local government areas, and 8,809 registration areas.

The RHA now operates through 17 specialized directorates, including units dedicated to technology, data, intelligence, and digital media, aimed at countering misinformation and tracking public sentiment in real-time.

Economic Data as Campaign Narrative

The APC leadership emphasized the importance of using economic performance indicators to build support for the administration. Key figures cited by party officials include:

  • GDP Growth: A 3.89% year-on-year growth recorded in the first quarter of 2026, compared to 3.13% in the same period of 2025.

  • Trade Surplus: A recorded surplus of ₦7.55 trillion in Q1 2026.

  • Foreign Reserves: Reported to have risen to over $50 billion.

  • Infrastructure: Key projects highlighted include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline, and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, charged the ambassadors with the task of converting these statistics into "human narratives." He urged the mobilization team to focus on storytelling such as the impact of student loans and healthcare reforms to bridge the gap between abstract policy data and the daily lives of voters.

Strategic Objectives

The retreat, attended by party stalwarts including Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya and former Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-Makura, focused on creating a "National Grassroots Mobilisation Blueprint."

Governor Yahaya characterized the effort as a "race against time" ahead of the 2027 polls, emphasizing the need for a coordinated response to opposition narratives. The party views the upcoming election as a "referendum" on the economic reforms initiated by the current administration, specifically the removal of the fuel subsidy and foreign exchange adjustments.
