The Media Director for the Anioma State creation movement, Mr. Tonnie Oganah, has issued a stark warning regarding the future of the proposed state, suggesting that its realization is contingent upon the political success of Senator Ned Nwoko. Oganah stated on Thursday that any threat to Senator Nwoko’s re-election would likely derail the 70-year campaign for the creation of Anioma State.

Claims of Political Sabotage

Oganah attributed the delays in the state creation process to the "divisive nature of unpatriotic politics" driven by opponents of the project. He framed Senator Nwoko as a pivotal figure whose dedication and personal resources have been instrumental in the legislative push for the new state.

According to Oganah, Senator Nwoko’s recent victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries reflects the will of the people, who he claims view the Senator as a "servant-leader." He argued that the creation of Anioma State is a vital pathway to regional empowerment, suggesting that the new state would generate jobs, reduce crime through youth engagement, and provide economic opportunities for the residents of Delta State’s nine Anioma local government areas.

Call for Presidential Intervention

The movement has formally appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the APC to intervene in the political challenges facing Senator Nwoko. Oganah’s statement expressed concerns regarding internal party dynamics, warning against elements within the APC who he alleged are working against the party's genuine interests:

"We, therefore, call on the authorities of All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Bola Tinubu to ensure justice for Ned Nwoko and the entire Anioma nation at large... Our people should not be backstabbed or made a laughing stock of by the very characters who never genuinely supported APC in the first place."
