ABUJA - The race for the 2027 presidency has taken a dramatic turn as Peter Obi and Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso officially joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). The move was finalized on Sunday at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, shortly after Obi announced his departure from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The two political heavyweights were received by the NDC’s National Leader and former Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside the National Chairman, Moses Cleopas. Both Obi and Kwankwaso have made the switch to consolidate their political structures and pave a clear path for their 2027 presidential aspirations.
Party leaders have characterized the high-profile defections as a "growing wave of confidence" in the NDC's mission. This realignment effectively positions the NDC as a primary hub for opposition forces looking to challenge the status quo in the next general election.
