AWKA — Tragically, two police operatives have been killed in an ambush by unidentified gunmen in Anambra State. The incident occurred on Sunday evening as the officers were returning from an official assignment in the Orumba North Local Government Area.

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, confirmed the attack during a press briefing in Awka on Monday. According to the Commissioner, the officers were ambushed by assailants who opened fire on their vehicle.
"A team of police officers was returning from an assignment when they were ambushed by gunmen who opened fire on them. In the process, we lost two of them," Commissioner Orutugu stated. He confirmed that the State Police Command has immediately launched an investigation and intensified efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.

In the wake of this incident, the Commissioner of Police has issued a stern advisory to the public, urging residents and motorists to exercise extreme caution, particularly regarding checkpoints.
