IBADAN — The Oyo State Police Command has successfully rescued Busola Adegoke John-Paul, the sister of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant Bayo Adelabu, and her two children following a high-stakes rescue operation in Ibadan.

The rescue took place late Saturday night in the Ayegun area of Oluyole Local Government Area. Acting on a credible tip-off, police teams raided a three-bedroom bungalow where the victims were being held. The operation lasted several hours and involved a significant shootout between police and the abductors.

Suspects: Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping. Two additional suspects were killed during the exchange of fire, while others managed to escape, reportedly with gunshot wounds.

Recoveries: Police recovered several firearms from the scene, including a pump-action gun.
Background on the Abduction
The victims were kidnapped early Wednesday morning while traveling in Ibadan. Armed attackers reportedly trailed their vehicle from their home before intercepting them at approximately 7:30 a.m. near the Elewura-Challenge area in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. The abductees include John-Paul and her 12 year-old twin sons.
Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, confirmed the successful outcome during a press briefing on Sunday, stating that the victims have since been reunited with their family.
