KADUNA — Troops of the Nigerian Army have apprehended a suspect accused of impersonating a retired senior military officer in Kaduna State. The arrest took place on Wednesday morning at the “Strike Force Base” located in the Sabo area of the state.

The Arrest

According to reports from Zagazola Makama, a publication specializing in regional counter-insurgency, the arrest was executed following actionable intelligence that led military personnel to the suspect's location at approximately 9:14 a.m.

The individual, whose identity has not yet been formally released to the public, was reportedly posing as A.T. Ibrahim, a retired Major General. The suspect is currently held in military custody, where he is undergoing a preliminary investigation to determine the extent of the impersonation and potential motives.

Ongoing Investigation

Military authorities have confirmed that standard procedures are being followed. Once the initial military investigation is complete, the suspect is expected to be handed over to civilian law enforcement agencies for further scrutiny and formal prosecution.

The Army is currently investigating the incident to establish if the suspect acted alone or if there is a broader network of accomplices involved in the impersonation scheme. Officials emphasize that such actions, particularly involving senior military ranks, are treated with extreme seriousness due to the security risks they pose to public order and institutional integrity.
