IDOGUN, ONDO — A community in Ose Local Government Area is reeling after armed gunmen invaded Ugbosi Quarters in Idogun during the early hours of Friday, June 5, 2026, abducting a nine-year-old boy.
The Attack
The assailants struck at approximately 1:30 a.m., firing gunshots sporadically to intimidate residents and create widespread panic. The gunmen forcibly breached the residence of Pastor Olaosebikan Isaac. In a desperate bid to save his life, the pastor fled into the surrounding bush, but the attackers seized his son, Master Olaosebikan Victor, before retreating into the forest.
Another resident, Mr. Joel Owalekan, reported that the same group vandalized his property while attempting to gain entry, though he managed to escape unharmed.
Search and Rescue Operation
The Ondo State Police Command, acting on a report filed at 2:30 a.m., launched an immediate response.Police spokesperson DSP Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that the Divisional Police Officer for the area, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, mobilized to the scene to comb surrounding forests and escape routes.
As of Sunday, June 7, the Ondo State Government has issued a statement confirming that a joint operation involving the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Amotekun Corps is actively closing in on the kidnappers. The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, stated that intelligence-driven operations have narrowed the search to specific locations, expressing confidence in the safe rescue of the victim.
