LAGOS — The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, presided over by Justice D.I. Dipeolu, has reserved its ruling on the bail application filed by popular social media influencer and relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka—widely known as "Blessing CEO."
The Charges
Blessing CEO is currently standing trial on a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretense and stealing. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), through its Lagos Zonal Directorate, alleges that between July 14 and July 17, 2024, the defendant obtained N36 million from one Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye under the false pretense of leasing a six-bedroom duplex in the Lekki area of Lagos.
Legal Proceedings and Settlement Attempts
During the proceedings, the defense counsel informed the court that the defendant had already initiated a partial refund of N24 million and requested additional time to settle the remaining balance. However, the prosecution from the EFCC strongly opposed any form of private settlement, maintaining that the criminal trial must follow due process regardless of refund efforts.
Justice Dipeolu has consistently emphasized that the criminal proceedings take precedence over any out-of-court financial negotiations between the parties, ordering that the defendant remain in custody until the court's decision on bail is reached.

The court has officially adjourned the matter until June 9, 2026, when a ruling on the bail application is expected to be delivered.
