ABUJA — Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has issued a stern challenge to President Bola Tinubu, calling on him to resign if his administration fails to address the escalating insecurity across Nigeria.

Addressing his congregation on the state of the nation, the cleric emphasized that the root cause of the country's security crisis lies with the unnamed sponsors of terrorism. He urged the Federal Government to shift its operational focus from merely engaging foot soldiers to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting the individuals funding and empowering these criminal elements.

Targeting the Roots of Terrorism

"The sponsors of terrorism are our real problem. Go after them," Apostle Suleman stated during his address. He argued that the current wave of violence is being perpetrated by a new generation of insurgents who were children when extremist activities intensified around 2014. According to Suleman, these individuals are now young adults who have been radicalized and armed by the same networks that have long operated in the shadows.

"If the President cannot deal with them, he should resign and let somebody else do it," the Apostle added.

Commendation for Security Forces

Despite his sharp critique of the government’s handling of insecurity, Apostle Suleman expressed strong confidence in the capability of Nigeria’s security apparatus. Drawing on his international travel experiences, he claimed that the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS) rank among the finest in the world. He suggested that their operational success is being stifled by a lack of political will to tackle the financial and political backers behind the insurgency.

The cleric’s comments add to the mounting pressure on the current administration to adopt more aggressive strategies in dismantling the structures of terrorism that have continued to plague various regions of the country.
