AWKA — The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a massive breakthrough in its ongoing anti-banditry and counter-terrorism campaign. In a high-powered tactical raid, police operatives successfully stormed a hidden secessionist camp in the Owerre-Ezukala community of Orumba South Local Government Area, recovering a devastating cache of sophisticated warfare weaponry and explosive devices.

The Owerre-Ezukala Raid: Crushing a Regrouping Terror Network

The Commissioner of Police for the Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, detailed the successful operation during a comprehensive press briefing on Wednesday. According to the CP, the targeted camp had previously been dismantled by a Joint Security Team, but intelligence reports revealed that remnant elements of the proscribed separatist group were actively trying to reoccupy the flashpoint.

The breakthrough was heavily accelerated by the confession of a high-ranking rebel commander currently in state custody, identified as 37-year-old Nnamdi Ogbonna.

Dreaded Cult Executioner Nabbed in Obosi

Expanding on the command's sweeping security victories, CP Orutugu announced the arrest of 22-year-old Favour Izunna, widely known within the criminal underworld as “Njoku.” Izunna is a self-confessed executioner for the notorious Vikings Confraternity cult group.

His arrest led to the recovery of a pump-action gun, seven live cartridges, a locally-made Beretta pistol, and five rounds of 7.5mm live ammunition. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to executing several high-profile rival hits and community murders in Obosi and surrounding areas, explicitly naming two recent victims: Emeka Chukwuka and Chinelo Onyeka.

Major Wins for Child Protection and Anti-Trafficking

The command's operations also yielded profound humanitarian successes in the areas of child welfare and social justice. In Aguata Local Government Area, police operatives intercepted a female suspect, Chinazo Winners Anyasirikwu, smashing an organized child trafficking ring. The intervention resulted in the rescue of 12 stolen children seven girls and five boys ranging in age from toddlers of one year old to young adults of 20. The victims have been placed under strict protective custody while investigations expand to track down buyers and collaborators.

Furthermore, the command successfully secured the judicial remand of five individuals at the Correctional Centre for egregious sexual offenses and child abuse in Awka. Chief among the remanded suspects is a biological father accused of maintaining an unlawful incestuous sexual relationship with his own daughter in the Oko community.
