LAGOS — West Africa’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has secured formal approval from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to operate scheduled international flights between Nigeria and Brazil. The authorization, confirmed via ANAC Ordinance No. 19.449/2026, marks a transformative milestone in bilateral relations, promising to reduce travel time between the two nations from nearly 48 hours with multiple stopovers to approximately seven hours.

Strengthening Global Connectivity

The launch of the Brazil route is a centerpiece of Air Peace’s aggressive international expansion strategy. By establishing direct air connectivity, the airline aims to facilitate deeper trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, bridging a longstanding gap in the connection between Africa and South America.

“The approval paves the way for direct air connectivity, creating new opportunities for investment, business, and people-to-people engagement,” a spokesperson for the airline noted. The service will cover passenger, cargo, and mail, providing a significant boost to economic cooperation between both regions.

A Rapidly Expanding Network

The Brazilian approval is the latest in a series of strategic moves by Air Peace as it pushes to become a leading global aviation brand. The airline’s immediate expansion roadmap includes:

  • North America: Applications filed for landing permits in Toronto (Canada) and New York (USA).

  • Europe: Commencing three weekly flights to Manchester (UK).

  • Asia & Middle East: Finalizing plans to resume services to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and Guangzhou (China).

  • Africa: Launching new services on August 1 to Libreville (Gabon), Conakry (Guinea), Bamako (Mali), and Douala (Cameroon).

Consolidating Market Leadership

Already established in London, Barbados, and various key West African cities including Accra, Freetown, Dakar, and Abidjan Air Peace continues to solidify its role as Nigeria’s flagship international carrier.

By aggressively adding strategic destinations across four continents, Air Peace is positioning itself to be Africa’s preferred airline, aiming to provide seamless connectivity that significantly lowers travel friction for businesses and travelers alike.
