Residents of the Oda Community in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State are reeling after a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, allegedly beat his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, to death following a dispute.
The Incident
According to the Ondo State Police Command, the fatal altercation occurred on May 28, 2026. While the specific nature of the disagreement remains undisclosed, authorities confirmed that the verbal dispute quickly escalated into a violent physical assault.

Fatal Injuries: During the confrontation, the 65-year-old victim sustained severe injuries, primarily to his head.

Medical Attempt: Following the assault, the victim was rushed to a nearby medical facility for emergency care. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Arrest: The suspect was taken into custody after a formal complaint was lodged at a local police station by the suspect’s brother.
Police Statement
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, June 4. He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This case adds to a disturbing trend of domestic violence resulting in parricide, echoing a similar incident in 2024 where a 25 year-old man in Lagos was detained for allegedly stabbing his 68-year-old father to death. The suspect in the Ondo case remains in police detention as investigations continue.
