The Chelsea defender, a cornerstone of Thomas Tuchel’s side, reported tightness following England’s 0-0 draw against Ghana in Boston on Tuesday and was subsequently sidelined from full training.
Medical staff confirmed that James did not participate in the team's training session in Kansas City on Friday ahead of their departure for New York. He is confirmed to miss Saturday’s final Group L clash against Panama and is also unavailable for the subsequent Round of 32 knockout tie, should England proceed as expected.
