PORT HARCOURT — Edo Queens have officially been crowned champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) for the 2025/26 season. The Benin-based side secured the title following a hard-fought 0-0 draw against defending champions Bayelsa Queens in the final round of the NWFL Premiership Super Six playoffs at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
A Season of Redemption
Entering the final matchday, Edo Queens sat atop the table with nine points, requiring only a draw to guarantee the title. The result kept them at the summit with 10 points, successfully holding off their challengers to clinch their second league title in three seasons.
Under the guidance of head coach Moses Aduku, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience, recovering from an opening-day defeat to reel off a series of vital victories that ultimately propelled them to the top of the standings. This triumph marks the third league title of Aduku’s coaching career.
Individual and Team Honors
The season’s conclusion also saw several standout performers and awards:

Player of the Season: Oluwakemi Adegbugyi (FC Robo Queens), who scored 11 goals throughout the campaign.

Golden Boot: Shared between Abasiofon Uwah (Rivers Angels) and Atume Doosuur (Edo Queens), who both tallied 13 goals.

Continental Ambitions
With their domestic success secured, Edo Queens will now shift their focus to the continental stage. The club is set to represent Nigeria in the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifiers, aiming to build on their domestic momentum and extend their success in Africa.
