LILLE — LOSC Lille has officially announced the appointment of Davide Ancelotti as the club's new head coach. The 36 year-old Italian manager has signed a two year contract, keeping him at the Stade Pierre Mauroy until the end of the 2027–28 season.

A New Chapter for Ancelotti

The appointment marks a significant milestone in Davide Ancelotti's career, as he steps into his first head coaching role in European club football. He succeeds Bruno Génésio, who departed the club at the end of the 2025/26 season after guiding Lille to a third-place finish in Ligue 1 and securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

"LOSC is delighted with the arrival of Davide Ancelotti at the dawn of a new 2026–2027 season that will combine Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League," the club stated in an official announcement on June 1, 2026.

Career Background

While widely recognized for his long tenure as an assistant and tactical strategist alongside his father, Carlo Ancelotti, Davide has steadily built his own managerial profile:

      •  Elite Assistant Experience: Over the last 15 years, he has served on the coaching staffs of some of the world's biggest clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain (as a fitness coach), Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and Real Madrid. He also contributed to the coaching setup for the Brazil national team.

      •  Head Coaching Stint: His first standalone managerial role came in 2025, when he spent five months in charge of the Brazilian top-flight side Botafogo, where he oversaw 33 matches.

      •  Qualifications: He holds a UEFA Pro Licence, earned in 2023, and is highly regarded in coaching circles for his tactical rigor, ability to integrate young talent, and deep understanding of elite-level locker room dynamics.

The Challenge Ahead

Ancelotti arrives at Lille with a clear mandate: to maintain the club's domestic competitiveness and successfully navigate the upcoming 2026–27 UEFA Champions League campaign.
