OSLO — Norway has unveiled its 26-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Arsenal’s Premier League-winning captain Martin Ødegaard set to lead the nation as captain. The highly anticipated announcement was delivered in a unique fashion, with the King of Norway revealing the squad via a pre-recorded video shared on social media.

Star-Studded Attack

The squad is spearheaded by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who enters the tournament following a historic 61-goal club campaign. He is joined by a formidable supporting cast of attacking talent, including Fulham’s Oscar Bobb, Crystal Palace’s Jorgen Strand Larsen, and RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa.

Tangvik’s Surprise Inclusion

One of the most significant talking points is the inclusion of Hamburg goalkeeper Sander Tangvik. The 23 year-old earns his first international call-up as the squad's only uncapped player, stepping in following an injury to SK Brann’s Mathias Dyngeland. The call-up follows a failed administrative attempt to switch the nationality of former Russia U21 keeper Nikita Haikin.

"I didn't trust it until the video was finished. I didn't trust the King for a second," said Derby County defender Sondre Langas, who secured his spot in the traveling party.

Norway’s World Cup Path

Norway’s campaign in the expanded 48-team tournament begins in Boston, where they are set to face Iraq on June 16. Their group stage will continue with challenging fixtures against Senegal and France.
