ILE-IFE — Moniepoint Inc. has officially launched a landmark ₦3 billion investment initiative aimed at transforming technology education across Nigeria. The program focuses on the creation of state-of-the-art innovation hubs within three major federal universities: Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.

A Commitment to Physical Infrastructure

Departing from the tradition of mere speeches or symbolic promises, Moniepoint is investing in permanent, high-impact infrastructure. Over the next three years, these hubs will serve as centers for intensive, practical training in:

      •  Entrepreneurship

Bridging the Talent Gap

Moniepoint Group CEO Tosin Eniolorunda emphasized that the initiative is rooted in the belief that Nigeria’s digital future must be built by professionals trained within the country's own ecosystem.

Why It Matters: Beyond the Funding

The initiative is designed to provide students with more than just a facility; it creates a bridge between academia and the professional technology sector:

      •  Curriculum Integration: Moniepoint’s internal engineering and product teams will work directly with universities to develop curricula that align with industry needs.

      •  Mentorship & Experience: Participants will gain access to expert-led training, internships, and mentorship, allowing them to work on real-world projects alongside seasoned industry leaders.

      •  Scalability: While this phase focuses on OAU, UNN, and ABU, the company noted that this is only the beginning of a broader, nationwide intervention for tertiary institutions.

The leadership of the participating universities has lauded the move as a transformative partnership. OAU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, noted, "The Moniepoint Innovation Hub will not only expand what our students can learn but also transform what they believe is possible."

The launch ceremony featured a high-level assembly of academic leadership, including representatives from all three partner universities, cementing the collaborative vision between the private sector and Nigeria’s academic community.
