Yemen’s Armed Forces have declared enhanced military readiness to counter foreign aggression and escalate their defensive measures, while unveiling a series of successful operations targeting US aircraft carriers and other military assets.
In a recent statement on Tuesday, the forces confirmed a significant increase in their capabilities, marking a major milestone in their ongoing defense operations.
“The Armed Forces, as they confront aggression, assert that their military position is now significantly better than it was weeks ago,” the statement read.
“Our forces have benefited from recent advancements and have succeeded in affecting the enemy’s actions, successfully preventing many of their assaults,” it continued.
The servicemen went on to enumerate several other successful retaliatory operations against the United States naval assets in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, which struck the USS Harry S. Truman and USS Carl Vinson aircraft carriers, along with their affiliated warships.
The strikes, they said, used a combination of cruise missiles and drones.
The servicemen have been carrying out many such strikes since March, when US President Donald Trump vowed to deploy “overwhelming lethal force” against Yemen’s defenses as a means of trying to stop its unfaltering will to target Israeli assets during determined pro-Palestinian operations.
Shooting down another MQ-9 Reaper drone
In a separate instance of successful reprisal, Yemen’s air defense systems shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone, marking the latest in a series of high-profile interceptions, the statement also noted.
The drone, which was operating in the northwestern Yemeni province of Hajjah, was carrying out hostile surveillance and reconnaissance missions in the area before being taken out by a surface-to-air missile, it pointed out.
The interception was part of a larger trend, as Yemeni air defenses have downed seven such $30-million unmanned aerial vehicles in April alone.
The drone was also “the twenty-second during the Promised Victory and Holy Jihad in support of the Gaza Strip,” the forces added.
They were referring to the hundreds-strong operations that they have been carrying out in support of the Palestinian territory since October 2023, when the Israeli regime began taking the coastal sliver under a heavily-US-backed war of genocide.
Abiding commitment to Palestinian cause
The Armed Forces additionally reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their cause of liberation from Israeli occupation and aggression
“Our defense operations are not only about protecting Yemen, but also about supporting the Palestinian cause. In line with our commitment to the oppressed Palestinian people, we will continue to back the [Palestinian] mujahideen (fighters) until the aggression against Gaza stops,” they affirmed.
Yemen’s pro-Palestinian operations, the statement noted, would also continue as long as Tel Aviv kept up a suffocating siege that it has been enforcing against Gaza concomitantly with the genocidal war.
